Stud Finder: Magnetic Scan

Privacy policy

Last updated October 1, 2026

Stud Finder: Magnetic Scan is an on-device magnetic fastener detector operated by Alexander Landaverde. This policy describes the app's handling of information.

Remote offers

Superwall loads and assigns remote discounted offers using app and device information, an anonymous installation identifier, and verified purchase status. This offer delivery operates even when optional usage analytics are off. Network requests also expose your IP address to the service. Superwall does not process your payment or decide what you own; Apple StoreKit verifies purchases and restores.

Optional analytics

Stud Finder does not require an account and does not track you across apps or websites. Anonymous analytics are off unless you choose “Allow Anonymous Analytics.” You can decline and use the same scanning and purchase features, or turn analytics off later in the app under Safety & Privacy → Privacy Policy & Analytics. When you turn analytics off, future optional Superwall event collection stops; remote offer delivery remains available.

If you opt in, the app’s Superwall SDK sends automatic lifecycle events such as first use, installation, app launch/open, and session start, plus app-defined usage events for scan start, likely fastener detection, successful finds and committed camera placements with their combined count, the hard paywall, offer views and declines, the assigned discounted offer, and purchase attempts with the selected plan. Its purchase bridge reports campaign purchase results. Superwall receives a random installation identifier, Apple’s identifier for vendor (IDFV), your IP address (used to derive an approximate city, region, and country), purchase/subscription status, and basic device details such as model, iOS version, language, currency, and time zone. These data are used to measure app usage and purchases and improve the app, not for advertising or tracking. Apple Search Ads attribution and third-party attribution partners are not enabled.

Superwall, Inc. provides the remote offer and optional analytics services and processes this information under its service terms. See Superwall’s privacy policy and data processing addendum. Stud Finder does not send your name, email, Apple Account, advertising identifier, precise location, sensor readings, camera images, markers, or notes to Superwall.

Magnetometer and camera

Magnetometer readings are processed on your device and are used only to drive the on-screen reading while you scan. Optional camera imagery, used to place markers on the wall you are scanning, is processed on your device. Sensor readings, images, addresses, notes, and markers are not transmitted by Stud Finder, whether or not analytics are enabled.

Markers are session-only

Markers you place in the camera view exist only for the current scanning session. They are not saved to your device, exported, or sent anywhere, and they are gone when the session ends.

Local usage allowance

The app stores a combined count of successful finds and committed camera placements on your device. Three total free actions are shared across both modes and saved across app launches. After the third action, further scanning and placements require Pro. No usage counter is shown to users. Optional analytics may include the combined count, but sensor readings, images, and pin coordinates are never included.

Purchases

Purchases and restores are processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. Apple may process purchase information under its own privacy policy. Stud Finder does not receive your payment details, and there is no Stud Finder server involved in a purchase. Superwall mirrors verified Pro status to select offers. If you opt in to analytics, its purchase bridge measures campaign purchase results; it does not process payment details or decide what you own.

Retention, access, and deletion

Stud Finder keeps no server copy of these analytics events. Superwall’s public materials do not specify a fixed retention period for app event data. To ask about access or deletion of analytics data, contact us at support@alexanderlandaverde.com; we will forward your request to Superwall. Superwall’s data processing addendum describes return or destruction of customer data on service termination upon request, subject to its backup and archival practices. Turning analytics off stops future collection but does not itself delete data already collected.

Changes and contact

Material changes to this policy will be described in release notes before they apply. Questions or data requests can be sent to support@alexanderlandaverde.com.
